Evangelism by pastor Fenojo

Psalm 24:1 - The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.

Today we are used to giving an excuse or the other on why we cannot evangelise. We blame the culture or the area or the fact that we are not allowed to lord the word “Jesus” over anyone at work. When we speak of Evangelism we must realise that first, the purpose why we are instructed to envagelise to others. We need to ask the question, what and how have I been instructed on evangelizing to others?

Nowadays, messages being preached in churches are designed to excite the congregation. As a result, most Christians are not equipped with the true in-dept knowledge of the gospel of the cross and consequently they remain without a personal evidence to show that they have experienced the truth of the gospel of Jesus. Unless we understand the message of the cross and have a personal life experience, our evangelism efforts will remain powerless.

For example, have we studied and understood these passages with a personal testimony:
Matthew 7: 13-14; “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it”. From this passage, have we understood what the narrow gate means? Have we positioned ourselves to walk daily in the narrow way? Unless we come to terms with the reality of this passage, we will not be in the position to demonstrate to others that the word of God is true.

Hebrew 12:14; “Pursue peace with all men, as well as holiness, without which no one will see the Lord”. Before I encourage and pray for anyone on choosing a path of peace, have I myself lived and experience peace with all men? Perhaps if I have experienced it and I know it is possible, it will be easier to show anyone how to live peaceably with all men.
Many Christians today live in confusion of the word of God because the word of God has been preached to them as parables, with no real-life explanation to back the word. This is why the bible says; “You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” – Matthew 12:34. Anyone who will preach, will only speak from the abundance of their heart, if my preaching is powerless, then I must check myself again. Do I preach Christ or something else? Where God is, the fullness of God is also present and His power to change lives is not limited.

Evangelism is an expression of life we carry, not an expression of words or theory we know!
