1/31/2016 0 Comments A New Beginning - SynopsisToday’s message asks the question ‘What did Jesus leave His church here on earth to accomplish?’ It does not take much to realise that the focus in many modern day churches have shifted from the distinct assignments the Lord gave to His church, (e.g. in Acts 1:1-11); to the pursuit of self gratifying ambitions.
Pastor Joe emphasises the need to remind the End Time church to retract its steps to pursue the ambitions of the One who set the standards for us before it is too late. Taking inspiration from Rick Warren’s ‘Purpose Driven Church’, the message makes reference to Jesus’ admonishing in Matt 28:19-20 (The great commission) and Matt 22:37-40 (The greatest commandment); and identifies five distinct purposes that the body of Christ should be pursuing as… 1. Evangelism or missions 2. Fellowship or caring for and loving one another 3. Discipleship or bringing believers to Christ-like maturity 4. Ministry or serving God and serving one another 5. Worship or bringing pleasure to God in all aspects of our lives In conclusion, the message admonishes the End Time Christian to make a commitment to the greatest commandment and the great commission, a priority above everything else; particularly as the days draw gradually to the end.
